Reaction Steps

18.9 g. (50 mMole) of the ester (2) are dissolved at ambient temperature in 30 ml. trifluoroacetic acid and stirred for 2 hours. The solution is evaporated at 35° C. under water pump vacuum, the residue is digested three times with, in each case, 100 ml. diethyl ether and dried in a high vacuum at 45° C. The product (3) can be further used without further purification. Yield: 11.2 g. of colourless oil; 84% of theory.
