Procedure

40.5 ml (40.5 mmol) of a 1 molar solution of lithium aluminum hydride in ether are added dropwise under nitrogen to a solution of 6.4 g (16.2 mmol) of the compound from Example 11 in 100 ml of dry tetrahydrofuran at 0° C. The mixture is stirred overnight at room temperature, warmed to 50° C. for 3 h and cooled again to 0° C. 200 ml of water are cautiously added dropwise to the mixture, and it is filtered over kieselguhr with suction and washed with 250 ml of ether. The organic phase is separated, washed once with saturated sodium chloride solution, dried over magnesium sulphate and concentrated in vacuo. The residue is stirred with petroleum ether, and the precipitate is filtered off with suction and dried in a desiccator.
