3.7 g (0.0067 mol) of 3-[(N-(2-(3,4-dimethoxy-phenyl)ethyl)-pyridinium-3-yl)-methyl]7, 8-dimethoxy-1,3-dihydro-2H-3-benzazepin-2-one-bromide are hydrogenated in 70 ml of methanol in the presence of 0.7 g of platinum dioxide for 3 hours at ambient temperature and under 5 bar. The catalyst is removed by suction filtering, the methanol is distilled off in vacuo and the residue is dissolved in a little methanol and mixed with acetone. The precipitate is suction filtered and dried.
