Procedure
194 g of di(2-ethoxycarbonylethyl)phenyl-n-pentylsilane was added to a suspension of 18.5 g sodium hydride and 800 ml of toluene, and the mixture was stirred for 3 hours at 100 ° C. while ethanol was distilled away. After cooling, 500 ml of 20% hydrochloric acid was added to the reaction mixture to make it neutral, and then the toluene layer was concentrated to obtain 150 g of 2-ethoxycarbonyl-4-n-pentyl-4-phenyl-4-silacyclohexanone.
