Procedure

((R)-5-Methoxy-tetrahydro-furan-2-ylmethoxy)-methyl-diphenylsilane (Pilli, R. A.; Riatto, V. B. Tet. Asymm. (2000)), 11, 3675) (0.80 g, 2.25 mmol) was dissolved in 35 mL of anhydrous MeOH and 5 mL of formic acid was added to the mixture. The mixture was stirred at room temperature for 30 minutes at which point TLC (9:1 hexanes:EtOAc) indicated complete conversion to the product. Volatiles were removed in vacuo and 0.83 g, 100% of the title compound was obtained as clear oil.
