Procedure
Ethyl 2-{4-[chloro-(1,1-dioxotetrahydro-1λ6-thiophen-2-yl)methyl]phenyl} propionate (420 mg) obtained in Example 39 was dissolved in benzene (7.0 ml), and to the solution was added 1,8-diazabicyclo[5.4.0]undec-7-ene (0.45 ml), and the mixture was stirred for 3 hours. The reaction mixture was quenched with water, and extracted with ethyl acetate. The organic layer was washed with water and saturated brine, and then dried over sodium sulfate. The solvent was evaporated under reduced pressure, and then the residue was purified by silica gel column chromatography (hexane/ethyl acetate=3/1) to give the title compound (300 mg, 79%).
