2-(2-Bromobenzyloxy)-4-(tetrahydro-2H-pyran-2-yloxy)benzaldehyde (4.4 g) obtained in step 1) was dissolved in a mixture of 10% HCL (30 mL) and EtOH (20 mL), followed by stirring for 1 hour and extraction with ethyl acetate. The extract was dried over MgSO4 and concentrated. The solid thus formed was cleansed with hexane to afford the object compound (3.78 g, 91%).
