To a stirred solution of 1-methyl-3-(methylaminomethyl)-1H-indole (1.0 g, 5.7 mmole) and Et3N (0.8 mL, 5.7 mmole) in CH2Cl2 (50 mL) at 0° C. was added acryloyl chloride (0.47 mL, 5.8 mmole) in one portion. After stirring for 1 h the reaction was washed with cold H2O and brine, then was dried (MgSO4) and concentrated under vacuum. This material was used without further purification.
