A mixture of acetic acid (4.5 ml), water (1.5 ml) and THF (1.5 ml) was added to a flask containing 2-(4-fluoro-phenyl)-4-oxo-3,4-dihydro-2H-pyridine-1-carboxylic acid {2-bromo-5-[1-(tert-butyl-dimethyl-silanyloxy)-ethyl]-4-chloro-phenyl}-amide (0.144 g, 0.247 mmol). The mixture was stirred at room temperature for 16 hours. Water was added and the mixture was extracted with EtOAc. The combined organic extracts were washed with water and brine, dried over MgSO4, filtered and concentrated to dryness under reduced pressure. Purification by flash chromatography (EtOAc) gave 2-(4-fluoro-phenyl)-4-oxo-3,4-dihydro-2H-pyridine-1-carboxylic acid [2-bromo-4-chloro-5-(1-hydroxy-ethyl)-phenyl]-amide (0.082 g, 71%) as a white foam. MS (M+H) 468.
