Dissolve 20 g (1 eq.) of Acetic acid 3,5-dichloro-4′-(4-trifluoromethyl-piperidine-1-carbonyl)-biphenyl-4-ylmethyl ester in 300 mL of methanol by heating to 33° C. Add 8.2 g of potassium carbonate at 25° C. and stir at ambient temperature for 5 hours. Add approximately 5 g of decolorizing carbon and filter the solution. Add water to the filtrate add remove some methanol on the rotary evaporator at 40° C. to afford a slurry. Collect the solid by filtration and dry under vacuum at 50° C. to afford 14.4 g (76% yield) of the titled compound.
