Procedure

step 1—A solution of methyl 2-bromomethyl-benzoate (9.99 g, 43.6 mmol) and triethylphosphite (7.25 g, 43.6 mmol) was heated to 150° C. for 5 h. The reaction mixture as cooled to RT then purified by SiO2 chromatography to afford 11.55 g of 2-(diethoxy-phosphorylmethyl)-benzoic acid methyl ester (72)
