(±)-1-Benzoyl-3-[(3R*,4S*)-4-(4-bromo-thiophen-2-yl)-3-hydroxymethyl-tetrahydro-pyran-4-yl]thiourea (233 mg) was dissolved in methanol (5 mL). Several drops of concentrated hydrochloric acid were added, followed by stirring for two hours. The reaction solution was returned to room temperature and the solvent was evaporated under reduced pressure to obtain the title compound.
