In an embodiment, crystalline ciclesonide methanol solvate Form C is stirred in water for a period of time ranging from 1 hour to 6 hours to form a suspension, followed by cooling and isolating solid crystalline anhydrous ciclesonide Form A. Suitably, the stirring takes place at a temperature ranging from 50 to 60° C. Optionally, the isolated solid is dried in a vacuum oven at a temperature above 60° C., more preferably above 90° C.
