To a solution of 4-chloro-2-methylsulfanyl-thieno[2,3-d]pyrimidine-6-carboxylic acid methyl ester (3.3 g, 12.0 mmol) in THF (150 mL) was added a solution of Oxone (15.5 g, 25.2 mmol) in H2O (80 mL) dropwise at RT. After 18 h, the solvent was removed and the residue was diluted with CH2Cl2. The organic fraction was washed with water (1×), brine (1×), dried over. MgSO4, and concentrated. The residue was used without further purification. ESIMS calcd 307 (M++H), found 307 (M++H).
