In a manner analogous to example 1 d, the process is carried out by a reaction of 2.25 ml (5.6 mmol) of 2.5M n-butyllithium/hexane with 1.5 g (5.2 mmol) of (4-bromo-2-tert-butyl-6-chlorophenyl)dimethylamine and 450 μl (5.8 mmol) of dimethylformamide. 1.23 g of 3-tert-butyl-5-chloro-4-dimethylaminobenzaldehyde are obtained in the form of a yellow oil (yield=99%).
