Procedure
A mixture of ethyl 3-(2,4-dichlorobenzyl)-2-methylpyrazolo[1,5-a]pyridine-5-carboxylate (230 mg), a 1N aqueous sodium hydroxide solution (2.0 ml) and ethanol (2.3 ml) was refluxed under heating for 25 min. The reaction mixture was adjusted to pH 4 under ice-cooling with 1N hydrochloric acid. The precipitate was collected by filtration and washed with water to give the objective compound (208 mg) as a white powder.
