3-[4-[2-(N-Dodecyl-N-methylamino)ethoxy]-2-hydroxyphenyl]propanoic acid, methyl ester (500 mg, 1.18 mmol) and methanol (0.096 ml, 2.37 mmol) were reacted under Mitsunobu conditions as described in example 1 and afforded the title compound (471 mg, 81%) as a pale yellow oil.
