70% Aqueous perchloric acid (0.05 ml.) was added to a solution of 7-(2-methoxyimino-3-ethoxycarbonylhydrazonobutyramido)-3-hydroxycepham-4-carboxylic acid (syn isomer, 40 mg.) in acetone (5 ml.), and stirred at room temperature for 30 minutes. The reaction mixture was treated in a similar manner to that of Example 10-(4) to give 7-(2-methoxyimino-3-oxobutyramido)-3-hydroxycepham-4-carboxylic acid (syn isomer, 26 mg.).
