A solution of 12 g (0.3 mol) of sodium hydroxide in 20 ml of water was added dropwise to a suspension of 20.9 g (0.3 mol) of hydroxylamine hydrochloride in 200 ml of ethanol, while cooling, and a solution of 42.8 g (0.2 mol) of ferrocene-aldehyde in 200 ml of ethanol was then added. After boiling under reflux for 5 hours, the reaction mixture was cooled. The undissolved constituents were filtered off, the filtrate was evporated to dryness and the residue was suspended in water, filtered off and dried. 42 g (91.7% of theory) of ferrocene-aldoxime of melting point 228° C. were obtained in this manner.
