4-(1-Carboxyethoxy)-1,2-naphthoquinone (0.26 g, 1.06×10-3 mole) and 2-hydrazino-5-sulfamoylpyridine (0.2 g, 1.06×10-3 mole) were added to acetic acid (5 ml), along with 2 to 3 drops of concentrated hydrochloric acid. After stirring for 3 hours, at room temperature, the mixture was filtered to remove traces of solid. The filtrate was poured into distilled water (30 ml) and filtered again. The precipitate was washed with water and air dried; yield 0.26 g (59 percent).
