Next, 31 g (0.08 mol) of the 1-(2,4,6-trichlorophenyl)-3-acetylamino-4-pyrazolyl-5-oxo-2-pyrazoline in 600 ml of ethanol was heated under reflux while 55 ml of concentrated hydrochloric acid was added. Then, after 1 hour, the reaction mixture was cooled to about 10° C. and neutralized with a solution containing 39 g of potassium hydroxide in 400 ml of methanol. The resulting solution was added to 2.5 l of water to obtain 21.6 g (78%) of 3-amino-1-(2,4,6-trichlorophenyl)-4-pyrazolyl-5-oxo-2-pyrazoline.
