Reaction Steps
270 g (0.67 mols.) of 4-chloromethyl-5-phenyl-2-(4-ethoxycarbonyl-2-nitrophenyl)isoxazolin-3-one was added to 2.5 liters of 1,4-dioxane, and 300 ml of concentrated hydrochloric acid was added thereto, followed by refluxing the mixture for 8 hours under heating. After cooling, water was added to the reaction solution, and the crystals which precipitated were collected by filtration, washed with water, and dried.
