40 mg (0.1693 mmol) of carbamazepine and 30 mg (0.1421 mmol) of 4-aminobenzoic acid were dissolved in approximately 3 mL methanol. Slow evaporation of the solvent yielded clear plates of carbamazepine:4-aminobenzoic acid (2:1) co-crystal. The co-crystal was analyzed via IR spectroscopy and single-crystal x-ray diffraction.
