Reaction Steps

A solution of terephthaloyl chloride (5.0 g, 0.0246 mol) in dry DMF (100 mL) is treated with N-Boc-1,4-diaminobutane (9.418 mL, 0.0493 mol) and stirred at RT for 30 minutes. Et3N (10.298 mL, 0.0739 mol) is added and stirring continues overnight. The resulting mixture is diluted with deionised water (100 mL) and after stirring at RT for 30 minutes, the mixture is filtered. The filter cake is washed with water and dried in vacuo (40° C.) to afford the title compound.
