A solution of 3-(4′-bromo-biphenyl-4-yloxymethyl)-2-methoxy-pyridine 1-oxide (0.045 g, 0.12 mmol) from Step C in MeOH (1 mL) was treated with 2N HCl (1.5 mL) at reflux for 1 h. The reaction mixture was concentrated under the reduced pressure and the resulting material (Compound 41) was washed with water and Et2O/hexanes (1:5) to give the titled compound. MS: 372, 374 (M+H)+.
