A solution of 2-chloro-N-phenyl-N-(1-triisopropylsilanyl-1H-indol-4-yl)-acetamide XXII (192 mg, 0.435 mmol) and MeNH2 (33% w in EtOH, 2 ml) was stirred for 2.5 h. The solvent was evaporated and the residue was partitioned between EtOAc and a saturated solution of NaHCO3. The aqueous layer was extracted twice with EtOAc. The combined organic layers were dried over Na2SO4, filtered, concentrated, and the resulting crude 2-methylamino-N-phenyl-N-(1-triisopropylsilanyl-1H-indol-4-yl)-acetamide XXIII (180 mg) was used without further purification for the next reaction.
