Procedure

A mixture of 5.2 g of the product of Step B and 500 mg of p-toluene sulfonic acid in 40 ml of toluene was refluxed for 25 mintues and after cooling, 400 ml of ether were added thereto. The mixture was washed with water and the organic phase was dried and evaporated to dryness to obtain 4.1 g of (1R,cis) 2,2-dimethyl-3-[3-oxo-3-(2,2-difluoroethoxy)-1-propynyl]-cyclopropane-carboxylic acid.
