To (2S)-1-[t-butoxycarbonyl)-2-[1-hydroxy-2-(4-methoxyphenoxy)ethyl]pyrrolidine (14.03 g) was added 4N hydrochloric acid/1,4-dioxane (220 ml), and the mixture was stirred at room temperature for 1 hour. The reaction mixture was concentrated to dryness, and the residue was dissolved in DMF (100 ml), followed by condensation reaction as in Example 1-C) w i t h known N-benzyloxycarbonyl-L-proline (10.70 g) to give 11.10 g of the title compound.
