To a solution of 6,7-bis(palmitoyloxy)-4-thiaheptanoic acid t-butyl ester as obtained in Reference Example 23 (4.84 g) in dichloromethane (1 ml), trifiuoroacetic acid (4 ml) was added, followed by stirring at room temperature for 1 hour. The reaction mixture was concentrated; the residue was washed with hexane to yield the title compound (4.46 g, yield 100%) as a colorless powder.
