To a solution of 11-acetyl-8-carbamoyloxymethyl-4-formyl-14-oxa-1,11-diazatetracyclo[7.4.1.02,7.010,12 ]tetradeca-2,4,6-trien-6,9-diyl diacetate (52 mg) in methanol (5 ml) was added sodium bicarbonate (10 mg) in an ice-water bath. The mixture was stirred for 30 minutes in an ice-water bath and for additional 2.5 hours at ambient temperature. To the reaction mixture was added acetic acid to adjust the pH value to about 6 in an ice-water bath and the mixture was evaporated in vacuo. The residue was extracted with a mixture of chloroform and methanol (5:1, v/v) (5 ml×3). The extracts were combined and evaporated in vacuo. The residue was subjected to silica gel column chromatography and elution was carried out with a mixture of chloroform and methanol (50:1, v/v) to afford 11-acetyl-8-carbamoyloxymethyl-4-formyl-6-hydroxy-14-oxa-1,11-diazatetracyclo[7.4.1.02,7.010,12 ]tetradeca-2,4,6-trien-9-yl acetate (26 mg).
