Reaction Steps
(±)-cis-4-(4'-Fluorophenyl)-3-methoxycarbonyl-1-methylpiperidine (2.0 g), prepared as in Example 2(a), in dry toluene was added to sodium methoxide in toluene and refluxed for 7 hours. After cooling to 0° and filtration, evaporation gave the title compound as an oil (1.97 g, 99%), purity 85-90%.
