Procedure
Reaction of 2-coumarine (CAS 553-86-6) with methyl(triphenylphosphoranylidene)acetate (CAS 2605-67-6) gives compound 1 (Aust. J. Chem., 1975, 28, 1097). Reaction of compound 1 with acetyl chloride (CAS 75-36-5) leads to compound 2 (J. Chem. Soc., Perkin Trans 1, 1984, 1605). Reaction of compound 2 with sodium methylate affords dibenzo[b,d]furan-1,3-diol 1-2 (J. Chem. Soc., Perkin Trans 1, 1984, 1605).
