Reaction Steps
A solution of 1.7 g of 6-butyl-1-p-nitrobenzyl-1,2-dihydro-2-oxopyridine in 50 ml of methanol is hydrogenated on 1.7 g of Raney Ni at 20° until the uptake of H2 has ceased. The mixture is filtered and evaporated to give 1-p-aminobenzyl-6-butyl-1,2-dihydro-2-oxopyridine.
