Reaction Steps
A solution of 1 g of 6-butyl-1-(2'-nitrobiphenyl-4-ylmethyl)-1,2-dihydro-2-oxopyridine in 30 ml of ethanol is hydrogenated on 1 g of Raney Ni at 20° until the uptake of H2 has ceased. The mixture is filtered and evaporated to give 1-(2'-aminobiphenyl-4-ylmethyl)-6-butyl-1,2-dihydro-2-oxopyridine.
