p-Cyanophenacyl iodide (18.0 g, 0.08 mole) was combined with p-iodoaniline (35.2 g, 0.16 mole) in 32.1 g of absolute ethanol and stirred 16 hours. Precipitated title product was recovered by filtration and repulped in 400 ml ether: 42.4 g; m.p. 160°-165°; ms 362, 232, 219.
