Procedure

About 0.5 to 1 part by weight of hydrated silica, 0.5 to 2 parts by weight of cresol and 1 part by weight of silicon tetrachloride are mixed at ambient pressure and temperature for 1 to 2 hours; the reaction is complete in 2 to 8 hours, thereby producing a phenol chlorosilicon acid resinous product. The resinous product may be washed with water and filtered to remove any hydrogen chloride.
