To a solution of 1-iminophenylmethyl-2-(3-carbomethoxythioureido)-4-propylthiobenzene (3.88 g.; 0.01 mol) in dimethylformamide (40 ml.) and water (10 ml.) there is added calcium hydroxide (0.74 g.; 0.01 mol). The mixture is stirred at room temperature for four hours and to it there is added dimethylsulfate (1.26 g.). The mixture is stirred at room temperature for four hours and the precipitate collected and dried to afford 1-iminophenylmethyl-2-(3-carbomethoxy-S-methylisothioureido)-4-propylthiobenzene.
