Reaction Steps
To a mixture of 2-(3-carbomethoxy-S-methylisothioureido)-4-propylthioaniline (3.13 g.; 0.01 mol) in methanol (25 ml.), cooled to 5° C., there is added benzaldehyde (1.06 g.; 0.1 mol). The mixture is stirred at room temperature for one hour and is filtered. The filter cake is dried to afford 1-iminophenylmethyl-2-(3-carbomethoxy-S-methylisothioureido)-4-propylthiobenzene.
