Reaction Steps

1 g of 3-amino-5-(2,6-dichlorobenzyl)-1,2,4-oxadiazole is heated in air at 150° C. for 3 hours with a few ml of ethyl orthoformate in an amount which is just sufficient to ensure slight agitation. The excess ethyl orthoformate is driven off under reduced pressure. The residue is crystallised from ether.
