Procedure
0.979 g of N-[(2'-(1H-tetrazol-5-yl)biphenyl-4-yl)methyl]-N-valeryl-1-amino-methylcyclopentane-1-carboxylate are dissolved in 10 ml of ethanol and treated with 4 ml of 2N NaOH solution, and the mixture is heated to reflux for 23 h. After cooling to room temperature and adding 4.5 ml of 2N hydrochloric acid, the mixture is evaporated and the product is isolated by chromatography on silica gel 60 (40-63 μm) using CH2Cl2 --MeOH 95:5, Rf =0.35 (system N8). MS (FAB): m/e 462 (M+ +H).
