A solution of 2-amino-5-ethyl-1,3,4-thiadiazole (645 mg) and 4-iodobenzyl bromide (1.49 g) in methanol (5 ml) was heated under reflux for 2 hours. After the reaction mixture was cooled, the crystals so precipitated were collected by filtration and then dried, whereby 1.12 g of the title compound was obtained.
