To a solution of 5-ethyl-2-imino-3-[[2'-(1H-tetrazol-5-yl)biphenyl-4-yl]methyl]-1,3,4-thiadiazoline (3.63 g) in N,N-dimethylformamide (30 ml) was added 1-cyclopentene-1,2-dicarboxylic anhydride (1.44 g), and they were stirred at room temperature for 6 hours. To the reaction mixture was added water (200 ml), and powders so precipitated were collected by filtration. The powders so obtained were washed successively with water and methanol and then dried, whereby 4.53 g of the title compound was obtained.
