A mixture of intermediate (1-b) (8.92 g) and 1-chloro-3,3-diphenyl-2-propen-1-one (10.42 g) in DCM (100 ml) was stirred at room temperature overnight. The mixture was poured into a 10% NaHCO3 -solution. This mixture was extracted with DCM and separated. The organic layer was dried (MgSO4), filtered and evaporated, yielding 22.85 g (100%) of (±)-N-[4-[(1H-imidazol-1-yl)phenylmethyl]phenyl]-3,3-diphenyl-2-propenamide (interm. 1-c). The product was used without further purification.
