Procedure
A solution of 2-amino-4-methyl-3-nitropyridine (Aldrich 10 Chemical Co., 500 mg) in methanol (3 mL) was treated with palladium hydroxide on carbon (50 mg) and stirred under a hydrogen atmosphere (1 atm) at room temperature for 6 h. The mixture was filtered through a pad of celite filter aid and the solvent removed by rotoevaporation to give the title compound (340 mg).
