Using 4.93 g of 2-[2-(4-pyridyl)ethenyl]aniline and 5.70 g of p-methoxybenzenesulfonyl chloride, the reaction and after-treatment procedure of Example 1 was otherwise carried out to give a crystal crop. This crystal crop was recrystallized from ethanol to provide 1.94 g of the title compound (light yellowish white prisms). m.p. 207-209° C.
