5-Isobutyl-4-oxo-3,4,5,6-tetrahydro-2H-2,6-methanothieno[3,2-g]-l,5-thiazocine-8-sulfonamide (2 g, 5.8 mmol) was added to a mixture of Oxone® (10 g, 16.3 mmol) and methanol (25 ml). After 24 hours, the reaction mixture was diluted with water (50 ml) and extracted with ethyl acetate (3×50 ml). After drying over sodium sulfate, the solvent was evaporated under reduced pressure to yield 2.13 of a foam. A sample triturated with 1-chlorobutane gave material with mp 239°-241° C.
