A mixture of (2,4-difluorophenyl)(8-methyl-8-azabicyclo[3.2.1 ]octan-3-yl)methanone (20 g), hydroxylamine hydrochloride (10.6 g) and ammonium acetate (18.7 g) was heated in 67.5 ml of refluxing ethanol-water (3.2 mixture) for 19 hours. The mixture was concentrated to approximately half of its original volume, and the precipitated solid (21.3 g) was collected.
