Procedure
A mixture containing 15 g of 4-chloro-2-hexanoylaniline and 10.5 g of tosyl chloride is heated in 100 ml of pyridine at 100° C. overnight. The solvent is evaporated off, the residue is taken up with hydrochloric water and extracted with methylene chloride and the extract is dried and concentrated. The crude reaction product crystallizes from isopropyl ether to give 14.5 g.
