A mixture of 2-ethyl 8-methyl 10-oxo-10H-pyridazino [6,1-b]quinazoline-2,8-dicarboxylate (0.15 g, 0.46 mmol, Example 1, Step C) in 50 mL of 10% hydrochloric acid was refluxed for 24 h. The mixture was cooled and filtered to give the titled compound as a yellow solid, mp>285° C.
