A mixture of ethyl 6-chloro-3-pyridazinecarboxylate (0.12 g, 0.64 mmol, Example 1, Step A) and ethyl 2-amino-5-[(4-methylbenzoyl)amino]benzoate (0.22 g, 0.74 mmol, Example 2, Step C) was heated as a melt at 165°-170° C. for 15 min. The resulting orange solid was suspended into saturated sodium bicarbonate solution, stirred at room temperature for 1 h then filtered. The solid was washed with water and diethyl ether to give ethyl 8-[(4-methyl-benzoyl)-amino]-10-oxo-10H-pyridazino[6,1-b]-quinazoline -2-carboxylate as an orange solid, mp 225°-230° C. dec.
